Our company ubisys technologies GmbH was founded in 2006 as a hardware and
software design house specializing in wireless communication and embedded systems.
Ubisys was initially formed in December of 2005, as an individual company.
The name is a combination of the words “ubiquitous”(everywhere, omnipresent,
pervasive; latin ubique = everywhere) and “system” and stands for
smart wireless systems in our surroundings.
In recent years ubisys has become a supplier of industrial networking solutions
nowadays focusing on developing and manufacturing innovative home and building
automation for energy-conscious customers and companies, who do not want to
dispense with quality and comfort. Controlled by apps for smartphones and
tablets these system are developed against the background of the future
development of an intelligent power network (“Smart Grid”).
Even prior to its founding, based on a concept paper from 2005, the ubisys team was already
being supported by the German Ministry of Education and Research [BMBF] by participating
in the EXIST-SEED programm. The development of a radically new product range for intelligent
building automation between 2009-2011 was yet another project being separately funded by
the Central Innovation Programm for mid-sized companies (ZIM) based on a resolution introduced
by the German Parliament.
ubisys RFID & NFC
ubisys has developed a series of innovative read/write devices utilizing the
frequency at 13,56 MHz especially for industrial and commercial environments.
Sophisticated technology and highest quality ensures a reliable and uncomplicated
operation combined with easy handling.
In a nutshell: „RFID & NFC Made in Germany.”
The RFID & NFC products by ubisys offer unique features, e.g. different
USB functions in one device. These devices are suited for the „Cloud”
supporting web based applications or rather desktop virtualization solutions not
requiring any driver installation, neither on the clients nor on the servers side.
What makes this really interesting for industrial solutions besides high
reliability and speed is its bulk reading capabilities and also the
link quality indication (RSSI) between reading device and transponder.
Our in-house engineering team has realized various RFID and NFC
custom solutions even in the 125kHz band. One can also add to that
the integration of sophisticated ubisys technology into products
of our customers.

We have participated in various projects focused on developing the future
power grid by consulting and supporting global players such as Renesas
Electronics on designing powerline modems and protocol stacks, or having
developed modern digital signature algorithms for EMH metering, a renowned
manufacturer of smart meters.
The Gesellschaft für Schwerionenforschung (GSI) in Darmstadt picked ubisys
as developing partner for the remote maintenance solution of their next
generation ring collider “Facility for Antiproton and Ion Research (FAIR)”
receiving fully assembled, tested and plug and play ready components
from ubisys a supplier.
As the exclusive technology partner of Protegon we at ubisys took on the task
of realizing the worldwide first, most modern emergency call system combining both
tracking and photo features for smartphones and tablets — inlcuding iPhone
and Android Apps, customer portal, accounting& payment transactions,
linking it to a VdS-approved security centre throuh a special
Client-application and setting up
the neccessary IT-infrastructure.
These are only a few of the projects ubisys successfully solved in the past.

Software libraries for cryptography, an IEEE 802.15.4 netzwork stack for 32-bit
ARM controllers by Atmel and the matching ZigBee PRO stack.
A very usefull tool for developers and installers of IEEE 802.15.4 systems at
2,4 GHz is our high performing yet at the same time also very
affordable capture solution for Wireshark..
