CDC/ACM driver (virtual serial port)

When operating our RFID Readers in USB CDC/ACM mode, using it as a virtual serial port in your running system you will need this driver for all 32- und 64-bit Windows systems. The driver is automatically installed together with RFID Control Center™, therefore not being required in systems in which RFID Control Center™ has already been installed.

This driver archive is mainly intended for software developers using Windows, accessing ubisys readers in CDC/ACM mode, to distribute the required drivers to all target systems of the end-users, without having to install the entire RFID Control Center™. Allowing you to deliver the driver unrestrictedly in combination with your software applications for ubisys devices (“redistributable package”) even integrating it in your own installers.

The archive holds a description file with a digital signature creating a link to the kernel drivers of the Windows operating system. The driver contains no executable kernel or user-mode programming code.

Note: No driver installation necessary for Apple MacOS X and Linux as the required driver already is part of the operating system loading automatically.

CCID driver

Windows does not require any driver as the operating system loads the respective driver automatically. When using MacOS and Linux the neccessary software pack would be PC/SC lite usually pre-installed. From version 1.4.5 of the PC/SC lite CCID pack the support of ubisys readers is already implemented. If using an older version some adjustments in the configuration file of the PC/SC lite pack will be neccessary, for details please check our USB RFID Reader manual.

Note: Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 might notify you that no driver for the smart card could be found. This notification refers to the smart card being within range, not to the ubisys RFID reading device.Under this Windows version the Plug & Play concept was extended to smart cards. Should this annoy you please request a driver from the smart card manufacturer, or deactivate “smart card Plug & Play” in the Windows Group Policy Editor or the System Registration.Accessing the card through PC/SC API and ubisys rfidsmartfx™ also works without the smart card driver.

HID Drivers

No driver necessary. The RFID reading device is recognized by all common operating systems as a USB-keyboard..
